The ultimate gift! |
Wow, 55 and still alive! Who would've guessed! I was kinda dreading this one and honestly, I'm not quite sure why but, it turned out okl! I had to step back from the number and take inventory of my life thus far and I must say that things are going pretty darn well.
I finally finished my book. It's a collection of my street photography over the last 25 years and I am pleased that so many like it! I had no idea how much work went in to producing a book but here it is a year later and its done. You can check it out at www.blurb.com. Search for a book titled "Places I've Belonged" and you'll find it. I donate all proceeds from any sales to Doctors Without Borders as I firmly believe they are one of the best organizations around and do great work. Another exciting project I'm involved with and is nearing completion is a book my wife and I are working on.
It's a book documenting the "Wave of Flags" display featured at Pepperdine University each year. It honors the victims of 9/11 and if you haven't seen this display, you really need to. It will leave you breathless. I had no idea just how many lives were impacted by the events of 9/11 but this display puts it perspective. I think some 73 countries lost loved ones in this event, nearly 3000 people! This book will also be available on Blurb.com and I'll let you know when it's available. And last but not least...my kayaking!
I feel this is going to be a great year for me in every respect but I think mainly with my kayaking. I want to start working towards some goals such as the BCU certifications and my birthday present is just what I needed to help get me there! My wife told me she got me a really cool present so I was all excited thinking it was something electronic, some gadget that I could waste time with but it turned out to be a 4 hour block of instruction with Jen Kleck of Aqua Adventures in San Diego! I was so thrilled and honestly couldn't believe it! I had mentioned in an earlier post that I wanted to start working towards the BCU certifications and my wife read this, made a call to Mike who works with Jen, and there you have it! I am so stoked! I've taken lessons from Jen before and honestly you won't find a better instructor. She's just interested in you becoming the best paddler you can be! So now I figure better get busy in the water! lol As you can see I have proudly displayed the gift certificate for all to see and be jealous of! lol I can't wait!
